January Art Show at the Ladies' Library, Brewster

Hidden Cape by Phil Airoldi. Pastel 12" x 18" $500.00

Cape Cod, where you'll find Budleigh Salterton's sister-town of Brewster, has long been a magnet for artists with its unspoilt woodlands, its marshes and miles of beaches and its celebrated sunsets.

Phil Airoldi, a lifelong artist, has been showing his work in both pastels and acrylic since the 1970s. A member of the Cape Cod Art Association, The Creative Arts Center in Chatham, MA, the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod, and Nauset Painters, he has channeled his passions, baseball and the outdoors, into two of his series of pieces called 'More Than the Game' and the 'Hidden Cape.'

I featured his baseball-themed paintings on a previous page at http://budleighbrewsterunited.blogspot.com/2009/06/more-than-game-art-exhibition-by-phil.html Some of these will be on show at the Brewster Ladies’ Library, which is proud to be exhibiting his work throughout the month of January.

Nauset Spring. Pastel on rice paper 12" x 16" $450.00

Also on display will be paintings which reflect Phil Airoldi's passion for the Cape Cod countryside and the outdoors. “I often paint what I call the ‘Hidden Cape'" he says. "Little pieces of Cape Cod that have a cozy personal feeling – a backyard, an opening on the bike path, a lazy stream through the woods.”

The sale and exhibition open on Tuesday, 4 January 2011, and will continue throughout the month during regular library hours. A portion of proceeds from the sale benefit the library. Phil Airoldi's website is at http://philairoldi.com/
