Much more than cod and chips

Now that my Budleigh Salterton readers are becoming more aware of the connection with our sister town of Brewster, some of them may be tempted to include Cape Cod on their itinerary if they happen to be holidaying in the USA.

The Cape is a popular holiday destination for Americans - the population of Brewster zooms up in the high season from 10,000 to something like 25,000, and I've discovered that there is a high proportion of second homes in the town and surrounding area, compared with Budleigh.

All those holiday makers are keen to try out Cape Cod's culinary delights, including the seafood, so there is a bewildering choice of bars and restaurants. My helpful Brewster correspondents Byron and Donna Cain have published a useful guide to fine dining on the Cape. Or rather, it's a guide to the guides, giving their opinion as experienced innkeepers on the best ones to use. The link is http://blog.brewsterbythesea.com/2010/02/good-dining-on-cape-cod.html
