In store in Budleigh: Bargainarts

It may not seem the best time to expand a business but the owners of East Devon-based Bargainarts are so convinced of the area’s natural beauty as one of the factors which draws artists to our coastline that they have opened a new shop in Budleigh Salterton High Street.

Bargainarts sell a fantastic range of artists’ materials at very competitive prices – they specialise in canvases. The business is owned by Darren and Kirsten Hinch, who have over 20 years’ experience each managing and owning retail businesses.

“We have three great children, Tom (11), Bob (9) and Katie (6), who will sometimes be helping us in the shop,” said Darren, pictured left.

“We sell from our main shop in Ottery St Mary, Ottery News and Cards, from our website which is currently been heavily updated, and now from our artists’ materials shop here in Budleigh.”

The business has grown very quickly over the last few years and Bargainarts now sell more canvases than virtually any other retailer in the South West. They have built up a reputation for the lowest prices on quality canvases anywhere in the UK – this includes anywhere on the internet if you include delivery charges.

“The shop in Budleigh opened in early July and we are delighted with the response we have had from our customers so far,” Darren told me. “We have a great range now but with lots more to come over the next two months we hope to do very well as art classes and the schools and colleges return again in September. Then with lots of gifts arriving in the shop, the lead up to Christmas should be a busy time for us.”

“Budleigh is a beautiful place and we hope that our shop enhances the High Street,” say the couple. “We hope to see as many of you as possible soon.”
